CREATING AUTONOMY FORTE
CREATING AUTONOMY FORTE
Autonomy Forte started with an old loom.
I picked it up with a trailer, in parts.
I painted the parts high-gloss black, after which I put the loom back together.
Why a loom?
For the symbolism of making. Weaving. Braiding. The patterns.
The ancient history.
And the stool in front of it.
From the stool I made a bird-like one. Life size.
With goggles. With a club for beating the drum.
With a fire extinguisher, fishing rod, tool box.
With a water tank, rope and life jacket.
The loom became an instrument, became a raft at sea.
Played with and controlled, harnessed. Tuned.
And the bird?
It rumbles on.
